Mr. Tang was born and brought up in a humble small new village called “Osiam” situated in B.N.O. SabakBernam, Selangor, where livelihood depended on fishing, farming and poultry. Due to his upbringing, Mr. Tang has truly appreciated the value of quality and nutritious food for his family be it the seafood from the sea or vegetables and fruits from the farm. In his childhood days, these were brought home by his late fisherman father directly from the vicinity of the village, which was blessed with abundance of wild-caught fresh seafood from the adjacent Straits of Malacca and fertile soil of the land the village sits on. These were the staple for his mum’s cooking which created a strong sense of family bonding and love.
Since relocating to Kuala Lumpur and lived there since 1997, he found that it a challenge to source for quality sea and farm produce, which has been confirmed and verified of their sources and onward storage, preservation and transportation to ensure the freshness, quality and most importantly food safety. This is due to the mass fishing and farming in today’s food industry whereby chemical preservatives and pesticides are widely use, and their cultivation methods which consumers are unable to verify.
Being extremely particular and carefully to source food supplies meeting his exceptionally high personal standards for his family, Mr. Tang was also sought after to procure fresh produce for his friends. During this time, hehad the privilege to share his culinary and food sourcing experience with them. With positive feedbacks and encouragement, Mr. Tang established FikrahBakti Culinary in March 2020 to share this with the wider public.
Till today, Mr. Tang is passionate and committed to have a personal“hands-on” approachto verify, select and supervise the packaging and transportation of the fresh food procured till they are in safe receipt of his customers. His vision is to provide everyone with access to healthy, quality and reasonably priced fresh produced either from sea or land for all to love.
